The rainbow colors represent difference and diversity in a background of sameness.

The pieces also reflected on the danger that accompanies the potential for abuse of power by the executive branch that resulted in the first attempted coup in US history.

The white blocks look immutable from a distance, like the stone blocks used to build capitol buildings, but on closer inspection, you can see cracks and fissures.

The colors stand defiant of the white stones.
